“And all you fine people (and your friends) have to do is cast a vote”
Pi Kappa Phi’s Push America has some exciting news to kick off 2010! In mid December we were voted as one of one hundred small to medium non-profit organizations across the country to receive a $25,000 grant from JP Morgan Chase. We are extremely grateful since 500,000 organizations were also in the running! We earned this grant through a voting process on the popular social networking site, Facebook, in which JP Morgan Chase will be donating $5 million through the Chase Community Giving Campaign.
We are now in the running for the $1 million grand prize and need our Pi Alphas to help us win it! Our network is very extensive but with a short window of opportunity to share the great news we need your help. The contest is very simple; each of the 100 organizations that have moved on to the second round must solicit votes for their organization. The nonprofit with the most votes after the week of voting wins!
Voting begins on January 15 and concludes January 22 at 12am EST. Follow the below steps to do your part in winning Push America the largest gift in the 32 year history of the organization!
1.) Log on to your Facebook account.
2.) Search for “Chase Community Giving” and become a fan. (If you are already a fan just follow the link)
3.) Vote for Push America! You will have 5 votes in the second round and can only use one for Push America.
4.) MOST IMPORTANT!! After you vote select the option to share with your friends, this will post that you voted for Push America on you wall and entice others to do the same.
5.) Tell you friends to vote for Push America! Text, call, email, chat, write a message, write on their wall, anything to spread the word.
Thanks everyone we just received word about this and we are really excited! Here is the link to the fan page:

Due to inclement weather last week, the pond cleanup this year had to be rescheduled to the second week. Even though there were slight flurries coming down, several brothers still were out and helping clean up the second time around. A huge thanks to all the brothers that came out to this! It’s looking better and better guys!
To follow up a fantastic first week of rush, Eta Phi chapter has decided to follow it up with a second week of fun!
- Wednesday, February 20, at 11:30am we will be meeting at the pond in front of the library to clean out the pond. Come on out and give a hand to make UMBC look a little better. And see this article for information on how it will hopefully be getting even better soon!
- Thursday, February 21, at 5pm in the RAC, we’ll be playing some more indoor soccer, as this seemed to be a really great time when we did it last week!
- Friday, February 22, at 5pm in the Cabaret, one of the brothers, Alex Appelbaum will be playing with his band, and then later on in the evening at 9pm, Ray Remesch will be performing with his band as well. Come and hang out with the guys and listen to some great music!
If you have any questions, feel free to contact Ray Remesch @ 410.829.8279

Hooters night was a great time again this year, and we had many of the brothers and the potentials out in which time 500+ hooters wings were consumed! Byaah!

Despite the cold weather outside, we had 4square on main street in the commons. Lots of guys came out and everyone seemed to have a great time. Once the weather warms up, we will be resuming 4 square fridays, and an announcement will be made at that time.Check out Dressing’s mad skillz here.

Game night at the gameroom was ballin’, playing some pool and ping pong. Thanks to all that came out!

For the first rush event, Pi Kapp had an open-mic in the Sports Zone at the commons. Music was jammin’, guys were hanging out, and we even had some great guest performers!
